Alotawool is an Internet export supply system, as an alternate to the traditional auction and supply chain systems, allowing overseas Processors to negotiate commercial lot purchases from Regional Woolgrower Groups under contract conditions. It has been based on a review of traditional systems and their costs
Consists of
- virtual wool storage
- Regional Wool Collection Houses
- growers’ contract management software
- Internet trading software
- strict quality control procedures
- restructured supply chain, and
- support services organisations
Benefit
Reduces the gap between Woolgrowers and overseas Processors to produce supply savings (estimated at 40%), when compared to the Industry’s traditional systems, thereby sustaining the industry.
Wool Solutions will introduce Alotawool to the industry in 2009 in 2 Stages as follows:
Stage 1 - Proof of Concept
A simulated Internet trading process between Regional Woolgrower Groups and a number of Processors spread throughout Europe.
Objectives
- simulate wool trading on the Internet
- validate and examine supply cost saving areas
- establish alternate selling and buying prices to compare with traditional industry prices
- invite Woolgrowers and Processors to identify and address any trading or system issues, and
- establish an alternate supply chain infrastructure for commercialisation
Stage 2 - Commercialisation
Establish a commercial infrastructure and business practices for Regional Woolgrower Groups to export directly overseas.
